Living Without Our Lives

“How can we live without our lives? How will we know it’s us without our past?” -John Steinbeck I came across this quote and it completely baffled me. It makes a rather good point. Our past is what makes us who we are. Without it who are we? Who we are now is a collection of all memories, and experiences of what happened in the past. So in other words that means our lives are the past. I would also add that our lives are in the present moment too because we are currently living our lives.  Think about it though. If we took away every single thing that happened in our lives in the past it would take away who we are. It would be like starting over as a baby. We would have to learn everything again like learning to walk. But it would also take away the bigger things like the events in our lives that have defined us and shaped us into who we are. And even if we don't have a big moment that defined us what about all the little moments that made us into who we are? Life is complicated. ...

Time Flies

"It's pretty scary to know how quickly time flies." ~James Wan A year ago, today, I stepped through the doors of Riverwood Middle School never to come in person again. It was Friday the 13th, the worst luck for sure. Little did I know how drastically my life would change. Time flies and it's definitely scary to see how fast it goes. I felt like I wasn't actively doing as many things (while being stuck at home) so in turn it felt like not a lot of time had passed. Turns out that year went faster than any other.  I have learned a lot in a year. My faith has grown, my friendships have been strengthened, I've grown closer to my family, and I learned new concepts and tasks. A lot can occur in just one year. One moment can change your life forever.  Looking back... -I realized how much we take human interaction for granted.  -I realized that there will be things that happen to us that we will never know the answer to why they happened.  Things I have learned... ~To...

Live Today

"Live today. Not yesterday. Not tomorrow. Just today... Today is calling to you, trying to get your attention but you're stuck on tomorrow, and today trickles away like water down a drain. You wake up the next morning and that today you wasted is gone forever." ~Jerry Spinelli The first time I came across this quote it hit me hard. We can never get back the today's that have gone by, however, we can make today and the next day even better. So live today and don't waste it.  Remember that wasting time means you lose moments of your life. Be patient when it comes to the future. What better time do we have than now?  ~What moments mean the most to you?

Live in the Moment

"When we show up in the present moment with all of our senses, we invite the world to fill us with joy. The pains of the past behind us. The future has yet to unfold. But the now is full of beauty simply waiting for our attention." ~Unknown I strangely came across this quote in Driver's Ed. (Yes, I am taking Driver's Ed currently!!! Crazy! 😱)  Anyway, I really like what this says. I think it is very important for us to take in the present moment with all of our senses, so we can experience it completely. I think if we are always wanting what the future has to offer or if we're trapped in the past we miss things that are happening right now.  The present is one moment but it's always happening. Which means our current thoughts and actions make it up. Don't waste the present, use the time you have been given!!!  I have always thought about how we can either accept the past and move on or we can constantly have it on our mind and never truly let it go. I lik...
